Calgarys economy continues to grow at a steady pace, attracting people from all over Canada and the world. Calgary continues to have one of the lowest unemployment rates in the country, with a balanced supply and industry demand for workers.

The good economic conditions and relatively low unemployment are fuelled by record low interest rates, stable higher energy prices and major construction projects. Calgarys economy and employment outlook are influenced by the global economy and the prosperity of major trading partners such as USA, China and other countries in Asia.

Jobs are created and jobs disappear as sectors of our local economy are continuously evolving, with companies adapting to technological changes, consumer demand and fluctuations in exports, as well as shifts in industrial markets.
