What are the duties for this trade?
Elevator Constructors read and interpret blueprints; do
preparatory construction work (steel work, wiring and
piping); install doors and frames; wire electronic
control systems; test, adjust and repair
mechanical/electrical systems; and carry out preventive
maintenance programs.
Elevator Constructors work mostly indoors and may have
some occasional work outdoors. They usually work 40
hours each week and may be on a 24-hour call for a
specified period of time.

Journeyman in Alberta have a general hourly rate of $17
to $ 32/hour plus benefits such as: health insurance,
pension contributions, paid vacation days, paid sick
days, etc� Overtime pay is usually higher than the
regular hourly rate, and as agreed with your employer is
considered for additional work over the 40 hours of
regular work each week.
Apprentice Electricians through their four years of
training earn more and more, getting closer to the
journeyman hourly wage:
