Alberta Employment,
Immigration and Industry
Alberta Human Resources and Employment(AHRE) provides
funding for the Work Experience for Immigrants Program.
This program has been delivered for several yeas by the
following organizations: Bow Valley College, Calgary
Catholic Immigrant Society, and YWCA of Calgary. The
Southern Alberta Institute of Technology(SAIT) is a
joint partner for the technical skills upgrading.
Alberta Human Resources and Employment provides funding
for various programs and services for the delivery of
career related services such as: career development, job
placement and training for starting a business. These
programs and services are developed to serve all
immigrants and the general population. For a list of

Directions for Immigrants in Trades and Professional
Careers (DITPC), is a new unique service in Calgary that
helps experienced professionals and trades people to
restart their career. DITPC is operated by Bow Valley
College, the largest English as a Second Language
provider in Calgary with more than 20 years of
experience in teaching English-language skills. Bow
Valley College has almost 40 years of experience in
educating adults in Southern Alberta.
DITPC is funded by Alberta Human Resources and Employment
and the Government of Canada. Bow Valley College has the
highest enrollment allocation for the Work Experience
Program funded by Alberta Human Resources and
Employment, helping immigrants in professions to
integrate in Calgary�s workplace.
Calgary Chamber of Commerce �
Talent Pool Project addresses the issue of labor
shortages in Calgary, providing vision and information
for the local business community. Immigrants are
recognized as a valuable resource.
Businesses in Calgary � The successful integration of
immigrants depends on the support of all local
companies, from energy giants to small businesses.
The business community is increasingly participating
through the Work Experience for Immigrants Program, as
well as supporting their staff who are volunteering at
immigrant serving agencies or volunteering as mentors
for immigrants in trades and professional careers.
