Who is the licensing body responsible for accrediting Certified Management Accountants in Alberta?

To call yourself a Certified Management Accountant, you must be certified by the Society of Management Accountants of Alberta.

What are the requirements for Internationally Educated Accountants?

  1. Have a university (bachelor’s) degree or applied degree.
  2. Submit university transcripts to International Qualifications Assessment Service to have them assessed.
  3. An English translation must accompany documents which are not in English or French. The Association of Translators and Interpreters of Alberta provides translation services.
  4. Applicants have the option to enrol in the CMA Accelerated Program if they have not completed pre-requisite courses
  5. Pass the Entrance Exam
  6. Complete the CMA Strategic Leadership Program and a minimum of 24 months of relevant, full-time or equivalent, progressive practical work experience.
